Saikat Sharma, also known as Rajdeep S. Sharma, is an Indian journalist, editor, digital media professional, media entrepreneur and social activist from Durgapur, West Bengal. His career brings together the worlds of journalism, technology, digital publishing and multimedia communication, giving him experience across several areas of the modern media industry.

A Career Built Across Media:

Saikat Sharma started his journalism career with Mahila Unnayan Newspaper and later worked as a freelance journalist with Din Darpan Daily Newspaper. His experience subsequently expanded into digital news and media platforms, including Ishan Alert Newspaper, Bharoter Khabar, Street Alert English Newspaper, Inform Durgapur and Inforly Nation.

Rather than focusing on one area of media, Saikat Sharma developed skills across editorial work, content creation, video production, digital publishing and technical operations.

Editorial Leadership:

Today, Saikat Sharma serves as the Owner and Editor-in-Chief of Front Times of Bengal. He is also associated with Republican Mirror, where he works as Assistant Editor and serves as Editor-in-Chief of its digital platform.

His roles reflect the changing responsibilities of digital-media professionals, where editorial leadership increasingly intersects with technology, social media and online publishing.

A Technical Approach to Media:

Technology is an important part of Saikat Sharma’s professional profile. His skills include video editing, digital media management, social media management, content creation, digital marketing and technical operations.

He also undertakes freelance video-editing and technical-support work for organisations and individuals. His combination of editorial and technical knowledge allows him to approach media production from multiple perspectives.

Social Responsibility:

Saikat Sharma’s activities extend beyond journalism. He serves as General Secretary of Humanity Press Organisation, Durgapur, and is a National-Level Member of the International Human Rights and Crime Control Council.

He is also associated with the Lead India Publishers Association and Delhi Crime Press, adding professional and social engagement to his media career.

Education and Recognition:

Saikat Sharma completed Fundamentals of Journalism at NBCU Academy and has undertaken additional professional courses and training. In 2024, he received the Bengal Icon Awards 2024 for his contribution and achievements in digital media and journalism.

Looking Ahead:

Saikat Sharma aims to continue developing his career as a Professional Video Editor or Technical Advisor. His professional direction combines his experience in journalism with his interests in video production, digital technology and media operations.

His journey illustrates the evolving role of the modern media professional—one who can work not only with stories and editorial responsibilities, but also with the technology and digital platforms that bring those stories to audiences.
